Russia may transfer its forces from Mariupol to intensify operations in the Donbas.

This was reported by the British Ministry of Defense with reference to British intelligence.

“Once russia secures Mariupol, it is likely to relocate to intensify operations in the Donbas. The constant resistance of Ukrainians in Mariupol since the start of the war means that russian forces in the area must be re-equipped and repaired before they can be redeployed effectively”, – it is told in the message.

Scouts have warned that redeployment could be a lengthy process if done carefully. However, russia is likely to do so without proper military training.

“The russian command, however, is under pressure to demonstratively achieve operational goals. This means that Russia is likely to redistribute its forces quickly without proper training, which threatens further depletion of forces”, – they said.

British intelligence also notes that about 1,700 Ukrainian servicemen probably left the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol, and an unknown number of Ukrainian servicemen remain on the territory.
