Russia continued to launch artillery and air strikes on Mariupol.

An adviser to the mayor of Mariupol said that under “Azovstal”, the occupiers were trying to break into the middle of the plant under cover of shelling. He published a photo showing russian soldiers pushing into the plant.

In the morning report, the General Staff states that russia has continued to launch artillery and air strikes on Mariupol, while the main efforts are still focused on blocking units of Ukrainian troops near the “Azovstal” plant.
“Given the evacuation measures for local residents, we should expect an increase in fire exposure in the near future”, – the General Staff warned.
After the evacuation of civilians from the catacombs of “Azovstal” in Mariupol, russian troops do not stop trying to capture the plant, which is defended by Ukrainian soldiers. The occupiers launch missile and bomb strikes on the territory of the plant and with the help of artillery and tanks carry out assault operations.
According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, influential mediators and states have been involved in rescuing the Ukrainian military stationed at “Azovstal”. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine claims that the operation to unblock the plant will require significant efforts and a large number of troops.
On May 11, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk said that about a thousand more fighters could be on the territory of “Azovstal”, half of whom were seriously injured. On May 12, she said talks were under way to release only 38 seriously wounded soldiers.
