At night, Ukrainian troops attacked Zmiiny, after which the russian occupiers probably left the island.
This is stated in a message on the Facebook page of the Operational Command “South“.
“During the night, as a result of the successful next stage of the military operation to launch fire strikes by our missile and artillery units on Zmiiny Island, the enemy hastily evacuated the remnants of the garrison with two speed boats and probably left the island”, – the message says.
Now there is a fire on Zmiiny, explosions are heard.
“The final results of the operation are being investigated”, – the command added.
Later, the head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, confirmed that the Snake Island had been cleared of russians.
“There are no more russians on Zmiiny. The Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted a great operation. Everything will be Ukraine”, – the message reads.
In turn, the Ministry of Defense of the russian federation commented on this information. There, the escape of the russian military was called an act of goodwill.
“Today, as a goodwill gesture, the russian military completed its mission on the Zmiiny Island and withdrew the garrison there”, – the statement said.
The operational command “South” reported that in the Black Sea, the defenders of Ukraine continue the operation on the Zmiiny island, where they managed to hit one more gun and missile complex “Pantsyr – S1”. In addition, our military eliminated 40 invaders and destroyed a lot of russian equipment in the south.
This is not the first successful attack on the island. russian equipment was repeatedly destroyed there, including russian air defense systems.
